NEW EVENT LISTINGS & EVENT REMINDERS FOR THIS WEEK

***NEW*** Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Pastor Todd and Stephanie would love to express their deepest appreciation to those of you who helped volunteer and/or attend this past weekend's Condon celebration luncheon and service.  The Condon's were overjoyed by the reponse of your kindness and they really appreciated the cards and the gift of the cruise.

P.S.  If you haven't given financially towards their cruise gift, you may still do this.  Please mark your financial gift with the word "Cruise" and we'll make sure the money gets designated for this.  Thanks ahead of time for your support!

***NEW*** 7/19 - Youth Camp Car Wash This Saturday

The kids and youth ages 8-18 will be holding a car wash fundraiser to help support their transportation to youth camp and back.  It will be held this Saturday, July 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the church parking lot.  Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated!
For those attending youth camp this year, you are strongly encouraged to help support this event by helping out.  For details, please contact Lisa Mastriano.

***NEW*** 7/24 - Cici's Pizza Fundraiser

Please join us for a night of pizza to help support our youth and kids get to this year's summer camp in Pennsylvania.  This pizza night will be held on Thursday, July 24th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at CiCi's Pizza on Arlington Road in the new Target Plaza.  The funds raised will go towards their traveling expenses and transportation.
CiCi's Pizza has agreed to give back to us 10% of all of the pizza sales from our group.  So what does this mean?  This means that when you buy the meal from them, they will give us back 10% of your total sale.  What a great fundraising concept!  Please let the cashier know when ordering that you're with Legacy Church.  See Lisa Mastriano for more details!

***NEW*** 7/30 - 5th Wed. Nite Celebration Cancelled

Usually, when a 5th Wednesday night rolls around, we have a celebration service at the church.  Since it is the summer time and many people are gone on vacations, plus this week is youth camp, we will be cancelling this service.  So check in with your small group leader to see if your group will be having their regular meeting for the week or not!

***NEW*** Update on Cathy Morgan

LC and the family of Cathy Morgan are still asking for your prayers and support for Cathy.  She has been in Akron City Hospital now for the past few weeks with the amputation of her right leg.  Cancer was also discovered in her body while there in the hospital.
Recently she had stopped breathing and she is now in the Critical Care Unit.  Cathy is now also battling an infection in her body.
We all know that the Lord can heal her body and that is what we're praying for...a divine miracle.  If you're available to go visit her in the hospital during visiting hours or send her a card of encouragement that would be greatly appreciated.  The family thanks you for your prayers!

***NEW*** "Fit For The Kingdom" Pilates Class

Already in session is our weekly "Fit For The Kingdom" Pilates aerobics class that is held every Thursday evening at the church from 7:00-8:00 p.m.  This class will be in session for 8 weeks and will be re-evaluated in August to see if we're going to keep it or not into September or October.
The cost is $5 per week for LC families and $7 per class for non-LC family.  These are exceptional prices for the normal costs of these classes.
The instructor is a certified personal trainer and currently teaches Pilates at FITWORKS.  She also was a dance major at Kent State.  The best thing about her is that she is a Christian!
If you're going to participate, please see Christa Runion and she'll let you know the details of what to wear and bring.

***TONIGHT*** 7/16 - Wednesday Night Live Youth

The Legacy Youth Ministry meet every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. for their weekly "Wednesday Night Live" services.  This youth service is a youth-owned and operated ministry with training provided by the Youth Ministry team leaders.
The youth do the work of the ministry from the praise & worship (musicians and vocalists) to the audio/visual, the ushering, and even giving some devotionals.  We want to help them cultivate a relationship with God that will last past their teenage years.  This gives them responsibility and provides them a purpose to show that God can use them right now in their youth years!.  For more info, please contact our Legacy Youth Team Leaders, Jim & Amy Julien.

***THIS SATURDAY*** 7/19 - Fresh, Unsmelly Fish Fry

O.K...Ignore everything you've heard recently about stinky smelly fish from Pastor Todd's morning message.  Is it out of your head yet?  Good, because we're having a FRESH, UNSMELLY fish fry on Saturday, July 19th at 6:30 p.m. right here on the grounds of LC.
The Legacy Men's Ministry is hosting the event with the guys doing all the cooking and the event is for all genders and ages.  The guys are encouraged to go fishing between now and then and bring their FRESH, UNSMELLY fish to the event to be DELICIOUSLY cooked up.  If you're planning on attending, please see Brian Bell to R.S.V.P.

***THIS SUNDAY*** Kids Fun in July Sundays

***This Sunday is the kids water day for those ages 3 through 5th grade.  If participating, please be sure to bring a change of clothes, towel, and sunblock.  Bring a water gun for fun too!***

During the month of July, the Legacy Kids Ministry will be presenting "Fun in July" for the kids ages 3 through 5th grade.  Below is a breakdown of each Sunday in July and what the kids will be doing:

  • July 6 - Picnic Sunday (bring tennis shoes and a food item to share)
  • July 13 - No Class (Pastor Condon & Ms. Sue's Celebration Service)
  • July 20 - Water Day (Bring swimsuit - girls must wear shorts over a one-piece swim suit)

***THIS SUNDAY*** 7/20 - Prayer & Communion Service

Pastor Todd is encouraging everyone to attend our next monthly corporate prayer and communion service on Sunday, July 20th from 6:00-7:00 p.m.  This corporate time together to seek the face of God is held every month on the 3rd Monday evening.  Come and experience a time of refreshing from the prayers of others that have a passion and zeal for the Lord.
Communion will also be served on the 1st Sunday of each month at the end of the 10:00 a.m. morning service.

OTHER NEWS & UPCOMING CHURCH EVENTS

Fasting of Negative Words Still in Effect Thru July

Recently, we finished up a 6-week message series entitled "Mind Games - Winning The Battle in Your Mind".  With this now complete, I have declared a church-wide 40 day fast - no, not a fast of food, BUT A FAST OF NEGATIVE WORDS AND THOUGHTS!
I'm asking all of the Legacy Church family to participate in this endeavor.  Experts say that it takes 28 days to break a habit and we, as Christians, speak way too negatively and the sad thing is that most of us don't even realize we do this.  When you hear someone speaking in a negative manner, STOP THEM RIGHT THEN and help them realize this.
Let's have some fun with this and make it a game in catching others (include the kids in this as well).  I think we'll all soon realize how negative we do speak.  I speak many blessings upon all of you!

7/25 - Youth B.L.A.S.T. Night

What does B.L.A. S.T. stand for?   Big Loud Awesome Spirit Thing.  The next B.L.A.S.T. night will be Friday, July 25th from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m.  Youth grades 7-12 gather together at the church on the 4th Friday evening of each month for a night filled with games, fun, and fellowship.   It's kinda like a lock-in, minus the having-to-stay-awake-all-night thing.
Every youth is invited and encouraged to attend.  See our Youth Ministry Team Leaders, Jim & Amy Julien, for more details.

7/27 - Chozen Youth Choir in Concert @ LC

On Sunday, July 27th, you don’t want to miss the 50 voice youth choir from CHICAGO, ILLINOIS!  They are a Holy Ghost-filled, power-packed youth choir on tour and they are stopping by LC!!  With the band and chaperones, there are over 65 of them!  Come early for a seat!  It will be standing room only by time the service starts!  This service will be our send-off for our children and youth as they leave for camp the next morning!

7/27 - Haven of Rest Outreach Opportunity

Element_7082a.jpg

We are having our next shelter ministry outing to the Haven of Rest Ministries on Sunday, July 27th from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Haven of Rest is a Christ-centered non-profit ministry specializing in ministry to the homeless in our city.
We are asking for your help in volunteering on the 4th Sunday of each month where we are committing as an outreach for our church to help in their feeding program. If you are not able to attend, we are asking you to help supply desserts. You may bring your desserts to that morning's service and we will get them there.
Please sign up on the board by the kitchen whether you can serve and/or just supply a dessert. For questions or to sign up as a volunteer, you can email our Haven of Rest Ambassadors, Karl and Cyndi Stover.

7/28-8/1 - RevTab Youth Camp

The buzz word is alreay going around regarding our annual trip to the RevTab youth camp in beautiful Mifflinburg, PA.  This spirit-filled summer camp is for ages 8-18 and is the perfect place to send our youth to be spiritually renewed and refreshed.  It will be held during the week of July 28th through August 1st.  Activities include: swimming, canoeing, volleyball, softball, water gun wars, plus much more.  God-anointed church services will be held each night geared towards today's youth.
The cost is $155 if paid by June 15th or $180 after June 15th.  $75 for camp counselors and workers.  This includes lodging, food (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and activities.  Each youth will have to bring their own money for offerings and snack foods for the camp canteen.  Fundraisers will be held to help raise funds for two 15 passenger vans and gasoline.
For camp applications or for questions, please see Lisa Mastriano.

PS - Sponsorships will be needed to help those youth who are unable to attend due to finances.  If you would like to help sponsor a youth, please see Lisa Mastriano as well.

8/3 - Guest Speaker, Daren Hearnsberger

On Sunday, August 3rd, the older brother of Pastor Todd will be here at LC ministering in word during our 10:00 a.m. morning service.  Daren and Angel Hearnsberger are senior pastors in Colmesniel, Texas.  Don't miss this special service to be tremendously blessed of the Lord!

8/27 - Annual Outing to Akron Aeros Game

It's that time of year again when we all head down to a local Akron Aeros minor league baseball game.  This year it will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Canal Park in downtown Akron.  This event will be our bi-monthly church-wide outing that is usually scheduled at the end of each small group series.
Of course, with this annual outing to the ball field, comes the time when our very own Stephanie Hearnsberger opens the game up by singing the National Anthem.  This has been an annual tradition for her now for the last 10 years.
Tickets are $6.00 per person and must be pre-purchased by Sunday, Aug. 17th.  Our reserved section is right behind home plate!  You can't get much better than that.
BE SURE TO WEAR YOUR NEW LEGACY T-SHIRTS TO THIS EVENT!  Contact Coach Wayne Shaffer for questions or to purchase tickets.

10/3-4 - Legacy's "Rise Up" Men

Legacy is proud to announce it's first annual "Rise Up Men's Conference" to be held on Friday, Oct. 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 4th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with a lunch cookout scheduled immediately following the Saturday event.
All men ages 16 & up are encouraged to attend.  This will be a free event to the community with each man of Legacy Church agreeing to donate a $100 love offering to help cover the expenses of the event.  Thanks to all of the LC men for your charitable gifts!
The event guest speaker will be Pastor Les Bowling from Columbus, Ohio along with praise and worship leader, Rusty Yanok, from Mansfield, Ohio.  Don't miss this grand event for a refreshing time of God's spirit upon our men!  Contact Ricky Mastriano for more details!
